Mary Beth Hughes, Esq.

Mary Beth Hughes focuses her practice defending individuals against balance billing claims brought by medical providers and debt collectors and on general liability defense. Prior to joining Devine Timoney, Ms. Hughes was an associate with a regional civil litigation firm focused on professional liability and general liability defense.

Ms. Hughes received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Lehigh University. She also has a Master of Arts degree in Education from LaSalle University. She received her J.D. from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law in 2010. Prior to earning her law degree, Ms. Hughes worked in social services at Carson Valley School and for Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health.

Ms. Hughes is experienced in matters involving healthcare reimbursement and representing individuals and health plans in hospital billing disputes.

Ms. Hughes is a member of the Board of Trustees of LaSalle Academy, an independent, non-Archdiocesan elementary school located in Philadelphia, for children in grades 3 through 8.  LaSalle Academy is dedicated to educating children whose life opportunities are limited by financial, academic, social or emotional challenges. She has also volunteered teaching English as a Second language and GED classes to adults learners.

Ms. Hughes is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Montgomery Bar Association. She was selected to participate in the 2012-2013 Bar Leadership Institute through the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
